PARTNERSHIP VISITATION BETWEEN UNIVERSITAS KRISTEN INDONESIA, NATIONAL DONG HWA UNIVERSITY TAIWAN, AND OKAYAMA UNIVERSITY JAPAN

 

On March 4, 2023, Universitas Kristen Indonesia had a Partnership Visitation with National Dong Hwa University Taiwan (NDHU) and Okayama University Japan (OU).

Professor Hurng-Juuhn Wang, Ph.D. from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, National Dong Hwa University, Taiwan also initiated the Ph.D. program in Asia-Pacific Regional Studies. National Dong Hwa University Taiwan was established in July 1994 as a comprehensive University in East Taiwan. NDHU maintains and enhances its superiority as a higher education institution through extraordinary teaching and research and aims to improve the social and cultural development of East Taiwan.

"I am very happy to be in UKI to share experiences in teaching and research, especially in Asia Pasific Region Studies program. UKI lecturers can continue their studies to Doctoral levels in NDHU, through the Ph.D. in Asia-Pacific Regional Studies program. Bachelor program students can also learn Mandarin at NDHU because the Mandarin learning program is also in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences NDHU Taiwan," said Professor Hurng-Juuhn Wang.

Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Cooperation UKI, Dr.rer.pol. Ied Veda Sitepu, S.S., M.A., welcomed the presence of the two professors to collaborate in research, student, and lecturer exchanges. Cooperation can also be done by holding an international seminar by presenting speakers from NDHU, Okayama University, and UKI.

Representative from Okayama University Japan (OU), Professor KIM Doo-Chul presented a brief university profile and scholarship opportunities from Okayama University Japan.

One of the Doctoral candidates from the National Dong Hwa University Taiwan, who is also a lecturer in the International Relations Study Programmes Faculty of Social Science and Political Science UKI, Imelda M.J. Sianipar sharing her experience. "Professor Hurng-Juuhn Wang guides my dissertation very well. He helped me increase my knowledge about sustainable development goals from various points of view. I come from the UKI FISIPOL International Relations Study Program which has a sustainable development focus known as SDG or Sustainable Development Goals," said Imelda Sianipar.

Universitas Kristen Indonesia, National Dong Hwa University Taiwan, and Okayama University Japan discussed about possible future collaboration programmes based on Three Pillars of Higher Education, which are teaching, doing research, and having community services.

We hope that Universitas Kristen Indonesia, National Dong Hwa University Taiwan, and Okayama University Japan can have fruitfuls collaboration and improvement of education, innovation, and knowledge for the universities.
